World Standards Day: Standardization in the Digital Age

Origin of World Standard Day

World Standards Day is October 14 of each year and the anniversary of the founding of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). On this day in 1946, representatives from 25 countries gathered in London for a meeting and decided to create a new international organization, the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), "to promote international coordination and harmonization of industrial standards".

This year is the 53rd World Standards Day. The International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) have identified the international theme of this year's World Standards Day as "a common vision for a better world". In order to highlight the fundamental role played by standardization in the digital era and actively promote the digital transformation of standards, the Standardization Committee has identified the Chinesetheme of this year's World Standards Day as "standardization in the digital era".
