Higg Index is a sustainable development tool and an indicator based tool for the clothing industry, aiming to assess the impact of clothing and footwear products on the environment and society; It enables enterprises to evaluate the type of raw materials, products, production plants and technological processes within the range of environment and product design options.

Higg Index is launched by the Sustainable Clothing Alliance (SAC), an industry group whose members cover more than one third of the global clothing and footwear market. Higg is open to all industries and is a sustainable development tool supported by many brands. Brands adopt factory self-assessment results or follow up on key items.

Higg Facility Tools are used to measure the social and environmental performance of a single factory and the environmental impact of products, including the Higg Factory Environmental Module (FEM), Higg Factory Social and Labor Module (FSLM), Higg Brand and Retail Module (BRM), Higg Material Sustainability Index (MSI) and Higg Product Module (PM).

Hgg Index is mainly developed for clothing and footwear products to assess environmental and social/labor performance.

Higg index certification for textile and footwear product structure module standards:

Environment module: considering the life cycle, analyze the whole life cycle of clothing and footwear (materials, manufacturing, packaging, transportation, use and end users).

Social/labor module: based on the life cycle of workers, the best available tools and frameworks are used in development.

Higg Index measures environmental sustainability through production practices and some qualitative issues, and promotes the implementation of improvement measures. To a large extent, it is based on the ecological index and Nike's clothing environment design tool. However, after a period of pilot testing, it has significantly improved.

The tertiary structure is:

Level 1: Understanding, understanding, and benchmarking performance.

Level 2: Planning and management.

Level 3: Achieve sustainable development measures/demonstrate performance and progress.

There is no performance "threshold" for the score evaluation of the factory (for example, the range is "gold", "silver", "copper"). It is up to each organization to determine how to interpret the total score of the factory. After completing this module, you will have a better understanding of your environmental performance level. It is recommended that you use the three-level structure of this module to guide your factory for continuous improvement of environmental management.
