List of common problems in textile wastewater treatment equipment during Higg FEM validation

Issuing time:2023-05-29 15:34

The concept of green development in the textile industry has sprouted early. In recent years, through green layout and guidance adjustments, it has steadily moved towards low-carbon and high-quality development, and the full lifecycle green management is accelerating its integration into the textile industry chain system.

The Higg Index is a standardized tool for measuring the sustainability of the value chain, which is the core of SAC's mission to achieve enterprise transformation and generate exponential impact. It consists of a core set of five tools that collectively evaluate the social and environmental performance of the value chain and the environmental impact of products, including the Higg Factory Environment Module (FEM), Higg Factory Social and Labor Module (FSLM), Higg Brand and Retail Module (BRM), Higg Material Sustainability Index (MSI), and Higg Product Module (PM).

List of issues with wastewater treatment equipment

Wastewater treatment equipment is a complex system, so different issues are easily apparent during on-site evaluation. In many of our on-site evaluations, our validators often encounter the following ETP issues

1. Untreated wastewater is directly discharged into the environment

2. Poor screening of fragments and floating elements

3. The motor of the coagulation/flocculation tank is damaged

4. Insufficient aeration in the aerobic treatment tank leads to the disintegration of activated sludge and a decrease in the clarity of the effluent

5. Floating sludge in the secondary clarifier

6. Invalid waste residue drying bed

7. Improper drying and storage conditions for waste residue

8. ETP overflow risk

Low carbon lifestyle has become a fashionable attitude, and low-carbon clothing has become the hottest trend at present. In response to this trend, major brands around the world have set carbon neutrality goals. The Higg Factory Environment Module (Higg FEM) is a sustainability assessment tool that standardizes how factories measure and evaluate their environmental performance annually. There are many areas that need to be addressed when measuring your environmental impact, from water to chemical use, to waste and carbon emissions.
