Organic Product Certification OCS, Pursuing Sustainable Development

The Organic Content Standard, abbreviated as OCS, is an international voluntary standard launched by the Textile Exchange (TE) in 2013. The current effective version of the OCS standard is OCS 3.0, which was released on March 1, 2020, to trace and certify the organic fiber content in products.

OCS has two defined scopes:

1. OCS 100: The organic matter content needs to reach 95% -100% and cannot be lowerthan 95%

2. OCS Blended: The organic matter content needs to reach 5% -95% and cannot be lower than 5%

OCS can serve as a commercial trade tool between enterprises, ensuring that the products they purchase contain the same amount of organic raw materials as claimed, and can also serve as a declaration to consumers.

OCS certification scope

OCS certification is applicable to any non food products containing 5-100% organic raw materials, such as textiles (fiber products, yarns, fabrics, clothing, etc.)and cosmetics.

All supply chain locations and brand owners of organic planting ingredients, including initial processors, manufacturers, packaging and labeling, storage, traders, and brand owners, can participate in certification.

OCS only declares the content of organic fibers in the product and does not involve requirements for chemical, environmental, and social responsibility modules. It can be used to trace organic growth materials involved in the final product from the source farm, and this process can be certified through ASCP Services.

OCS certification results

There are two types of OCS certification, namely SC (Scope Certificate) and TC (Transaction Certificate).

1. After the certification body approves the review, an SC will be issued. After obtaining the SC certificate, it means that you have the qualification to undertake OCS product orders. The certificate is valid for one year and is reviewed once a year, which is a re certification audit.

2. TC is the transaction voucher for the purchase and sale of each batch of OCS order products. The issuance of TC is based on the actual transaction generated after obtaining the SC certificate, and can only be applied to the certification agency.
