SLCP brings a "win-win" situation for workers and sustainable partnerships

Issuing time:2024-03-18 08:47

SLCP aims to reduce the number of social and labor audits and provide reliable social and labor data. This will eliminate audit fatigue, enable data comparison, and save resources for improving plans. The ultimate goal is to improve social and labor conditions in the global supply chain.

Enterprises can choose any of the following modules for verification based on their social labor performance and buyer requirements:

Step 1 "Basic" covers key social and labor compliance issues, primarily related to International Labor Standards (ILS) and National Labor Law (NLL).

Step 2 progressively includes issues related to management systems, as well as secondary supportive social and labor compliance issues. These issues often arise in social industry/certification/brand standards.

Step 3 "Advanced" covers issues beyond social responsibility industry standards that are not required by national or international laws, aiming to improve workplace well-being and community impact. Step 3 includes all questions related to both Step 1 and Step 2.

The SLCP tool consists of 10 themes, including 1 general "enterprise overview" theme and 9 core social labor themes.

SLCP verification cycle

1. SLCP does not have a clear validation cycle, and once data collection (self-assessment) is completed, validation can be applied for.

2. The time period for verifying the scope is the past 12 months from the submission date of the self-assessment.

3. Verification must be conducted within 2 months after completing self/joint assessment.

Due to the buyer's acceptance of SLCP's Integration Assessment Framework (CAF), suppliers can continue to save money, which is beneficial for workers, communities, and their own businesses. The latest data from BBI shows that implementing CAF has brought many benefits to enterprises, including: clearer corrective measures (71%); Reduce employee time spent on audits (65%); Save audit costs (52%).

With the increasing compliance obligations of suppliers, audit fatigue has once again become a focus of attention, and the industry's acceptance of SLCP and willingness to converge is more important than ever before. Choosing to conduct SLCP evaluation and validation can help companies adopt more responsible operational methods and strategic actions to promote the achievement of broader sustainable development goals.
